Oops! Where’s Stettin?

After I had published my version of the CAMPAIGN map/game board, I realised that I had missed Stettin from the Prussian section of the map … so here are the correct versions:

Now that I am fairly satisfied that I have got my version of the map/game board correct, my thoughts are turning to the campaign rules I want to use ... and looking back at the ones I used for my RED FLAGS & IRON CROSSES CAMPAIGN SYSTEM, which were based on the campaign rules featured in my PORTABLE COLONIAL WARGAME book, I think that they will be an ideal starting point for me to work from.

      I am hoping to pit the French and Prussians against one another in the near future to see if my draft campaign rules work. If they do, they’ll be going in the next Compendium.

      PS. Szczecin is the equivalent Polish name for Stettin, but I rather like it’s earlier name which was Burstaborg.

      David Crook,

      According to Wikipedia, there are eleven theories regarding the origin of the name, including derivations from either: an Old Slavic word for hill peak, (Polish: szczyt), or the plant fuller's teasel (Polish: szczeć), or the personal name Szczota.

      Burstaborg (also rendered as Burstenburgh) translates a ‘brush/teasel burgh’.

    Hello Bob,
    This has made me go up in the attic and dig out my original copy of the game. So glad now that I hung on to it. I can see possibilities for bot ECW and Napoleonic campaigns. I will also be very interested to see your ideas for campaign rules, something I have always struggled with.

      I’m pleased to see that you managed to keep your copy of the game … and that you’ve also seen it’s potential.
