Nine million hits!

9,000,000 hits!

This blog's hit counter hit eight million back in early October this year, having reached seven million in July. The sudden increase between July and October seems to have been due to web bots as other wargame bloggers also noticed this phenomenon affecting their hit counters. I was therefore surprised to see that my blog's hit counter has just passed nine million hits!

When I started blogging back in 2008, I never expected to reach more than a few thousand hits ... but it appears that my random thoughts have found an audience, and it is that audience - my regular blog readers - that I want to say a big THANK YOU to. Without your interest and comments, I doubt that I would ever have continued to blog after the first month or so.

Here's to reaching ten million hits!

    1. Jonathan Freitag,

I thought that I was doing well when I hit 1,000 … then 10,000 … then 100, 000 … then 1,000,000! To be in sight of 10,000,000 is awesome … and ever so slightly humbling!

      All the best,

      Bob

If I get to 10,000,000 by this time next year, I’ll be a very happy chappy!

  5. Bob -
Methinks that such a volume of 'hits' (leaving aside bots) is due to frequency and content. There's always something to see here.
    Congratulations!

Cheers! I suspect that you are right about frequency and content … and I also suspect that my attempts to reply to each comment helps.

      All the best,

      Bob

  6. Thankyou Bob for all your efforts (especially during your sickness) this blog site is one of my daily reads. I'm a history buff & had always thought war gaming was a bit naff. However, this blog and the many others have exposed me to histories and knowledge I had never considered "researching", and entertained me in the process - Thanks

    1. Andrew,

I’m pleased to read that you are one of my regular blog readers.

Wargaming can be a bit naff … but as I have told students studying wargame design, you need to thoroughly research the war or battle you are trying to recreate before you can produce a wargame that truly reflects what actually took place and - more importantly - why particular decisions were made.

      All the best,

      Bob
