I don’t believe it! A million hits in twenty-eight days!

I looked at my blog's hit counter this morning ... and suddenly realised that it had gone past eleven million hits! This means that my blog has had a million hits in twenty-eight days ... something that I find very, very difficult to believe!

Have those pesky bots been at it again? I certainly can’t find any evidence that they have, so why has my blog become so popular? All I can assume is that it might be down to AI in some way.

Whatever will happen next?

11,000,000 hits!

It was only the at the beginning of February that my blog’s hit counter reached ten million hits … and it has now just passed eleven million!

  • Ten million hits: 3rd February 2026
  • Nine million hits: 16th December 2025
  • Eight million hits: 4th October 2025
  • Seven million hits: 26th July 2025
  • Six million hits: 6th September 2024
  • Five million hits: 20th January 2024
  • Four million hits: 8th November 2021
  • Three million hits: 6th December 2018
  • Two million hits: Unsure
  • One million hits: 25th December 2015

Yet again, I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to my regular blog readers. Without your interest and comments, I doubt that I would ever have reached anything like these many hits.

Here's to reaching twelve million hits … which at the present rate, could be very soon!

  2. That many hits has got to be bots not humans

    1. Mike,

That was my first reaction, but unlike previous bot activity, this seems to be less easy to track. Obviously, they are getting more sophisticated!

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. My own blog is seeing lots of hits, but very limited readers. My feeling is it's AI poking around. Those data centers are massive and probably troll the net three or four times a day looking for stuff.

    1. WEK 3,

I agree that its very likely to be some sort of AI search that is causing the sudden upsurge in hits. Why they are bothering with my blog is something that I cannot understand.

      All the best,

      Bob

  4. Congratulations! Even if a sizable percentage are bots it's still a very impressive tally.

    1. Mark Cordone,

Cheers! I cannot for the life of me think of a reason why bots would have even the slightest interest in my blog.

      All the best,

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

When I looked just now, it was already eleven thousand hits past the eleven million mark! And to think that at one point in my blogging career, I was happy with ten hits per day!

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Rob Young,

No need to be in either case!

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that I have AI bots to thank for this upsurge in hits.

      All the best,

      Bob

  7. BOB,
Someone is playing silly buggers with these numbers- do the maths...it means 36,000 hits a day - which is a insane amount and illustrates how unrealistic it all is. Don't take any notice at all of the 'hits' tally. All the best. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson (Kev),

I had done the mathematics and pretty well came to the same conclusion.

However, the surge in hits does affect the search algorithm used by Google.

      All the best,

      Bob

  9. My blog is running at several thousands hits a day. I don't pay the slightest attention to these stats any more as 99% will be bots in various guises, just as 99% of emails are spam. That is trouble with computers, they are very good at automating rubbish.

    1. Martin Rapier,

What marks this particular upsurge in hits as slightly different from previous ones is that the hits are not on current blog posts but on some going back many years.

I am now quite sure that it is down to bots ... but I cannot understand why my blog has been subject to this recent increase in interest in its contents.

      All the best,

      Bob
