An eBay bargain!

I happened to be looking for something on eBay earlier this week ... and saw an out-of-production Matchbox die cast gull winged monoplane for sale. I thought that the model had potential for use as a generic interwar fighter aircraft. The opening bid was £0.25 ... so I put a bid in ... and won!

The model needs to be cleaned up and repainted, but once it is it will fill a niche in my small collection of interwar aircraft.

Not bad for £0.25 and the price of the postage and packing!

  2. Jim Duncan,

I already have a GeeBee Racer that - if given a suitable paint scheme - might do as an opponent.

In the meantime I intend to continue to watch eBay for similar bargains!

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Geordie an Exiled FoG,

I try to be careful when buying on eBay as I don't want to get too carried away when bidding for an item.

This was a bargain ... and I will continue to look for others.

    All the best,

    Bob

  5. Jim Duncan,

Thanks for the link. I am going to 'watch' it until closer to the deadline ... and may well put in a bid at that stage.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. That rarest of things, a bargain on eBay that has survived the bidding process to remain one. Well found, Bob !

  7. Corporal_Trim (Steve),

You are absolutely right; a real eBay 'bargain' is almost as rare as hen's teeth ... and this was exactly what I wanted at a price that I could afford.

All I need now is another one or two more of these aircraft and I will have an airforce!

    All the best,

    Bob
