Finished

In my 'rush' to see what I could make using the hull of the recently purchased wooden kit of RMS Titanic, I forgot to write a blog entry about my finished and painted 'cartoon' model of a Soviet battleship.

This is what she looks like now she has been painted:

I am very pleased with how the model turned out in the end, and I think that she looks better 'in the flesh' than she would have done had I stuck to my original outline design:

  1. Hi Bob,

Very nice indeed! Email to follow later today with the word re the wooden 'bits'.

All the best - the boot sales are calling from afar (well just up the A127 anyway!)

  2. David Crook,

I thought it looked good before I painted it ... but now it is painted I think that it looks great!

I look forward with interest to your email. In the meantime, good luck with your visit to the Boot Fair.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. Tim Gow,

And I do have Soviet Naval Rifle troops just waiting for some fire support ... althought they might need some landing craft as well to get ashore.

    All the best,

    Bob

  5. Splendid work Bob. When shall we see it in a game?

  6. Conrad Kinch,

I had hoped to use one or other of them soon ... but a trip to Hobbycraft today might just have pushed that possibility back a week or two.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. Peter Douglas,

Thank you very much. I have enjoyed the process no end ... and have found it to be quite addictive (i.e. I have ideas about building up quite a sizeable fleet - or fleets - of ships, including aircraft carriers and cruisers).

    All the best,

    Bob

  8. Geordie an Exiled FoG,

It is probably a bit too top heavy to float upright ... but it would be nice if it could.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. This has turned into a delightful model/toy ship.

I look forward to seeing in action one day either at sea or providing close support.

  10. Ross Mac,

Thanks for the compliment about this model. I must admit that I very pleased with the way it turned out in the end.

I foresee her being used to give fire support to landings by Soviet Naval Infantry or harassing the advance of Axis forces.

At some time in the future she might manage a ship vs. ship action at some time.

    All the best,

    Bob

  11. Great work Bob! All she needs now is a suitably imposing name!

  12. Don M,

Many thanks for your very kind comment.

As for a name ... I have several under consideration at the moment but have yet to make a firm decision.

    All the best,

    Bob
