Siege of Empires

Another trip to ASDA ... and another DVD purchased.

This DVD is entitled SIEGE OF EMPIRES, and is a Latvian film (with English subtitles) that tells the story of the Latvian War of Independence (1919 - 1920) and in particular the fighting around Riga.

I have always wanted to know more about the fighting that took place in the Baltic States in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution and the end of the Great War, and I hope that this film will fill in some of the gaps.

  1. Interesting- will have to pop to the local Asda- hopefully the small one just down the road has a good selection....

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Heavy on hardware and my favourite - armoured trains. Has some information on inter war conflict from the Polish perspective.

  3. I don't know why but my local Tesco is getting in boatloads of WWII films from Europe and Russia over the last while and they're all around a fiver. So many that I haven't found time to watch them all yet.

  4. Pete,

I have noticed that Tesco and Morrisons are also offering 'bargain' DVDs from all over the world, some with subtitles and some dubbed into English. They might also be worth looking at.

    All the best,

    Bob

I have noticed a similar trend in my local area. I am sure that there are some real gems in amongst these DVDs; it is just a case of finding them!
