COW2012: PVO Strany ... the film!

For the first time ever, I managed to make a short video about one of the games at COW2012 ... PVO Strany.
I hope that enjoy watching my first efforts as a film maker ... and the antics of those who took part in this particular wargame!

  1. I've seen worse. I only managed to capture a couple af very short bits of film (but then I was running the game!). Design and umpireing work was split between Martin and I.

  2. Tim Gow,

I suspect that the session I took part in was just as bad ... if not worse!

This was the first time I have filmed part of a COW session, but this has encouraged me to do more in the future.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. This session makes my cotton wool ball battleship game look positively prehistoric.

Looks like much fun was had!

  4. Jim Duncan,

On the contrary, in my opinion your game is far more sophisticated ... and sensible!

And you are right, it was great fun.

    All the best,

    Bob

  5. Brilliant- looks like a laugh. Pretty good idea for a game though.

Did you make anymore videos of the weekend?

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  6. At least in your game Bob you had Radar and Radios.

My game depended upon Mark 1 Eyeball!!

  7. Peter,

I didn't manage to take any more videos at COW, but I think that other attendees might have done. If so, I will encourage them to make them available.

    All the best,

    Bob

  8. Jim Duncan,

If my experience of playing the game is anything to go by, the radar and radios were more of a hindrance than a help ... and the good old Mark 1 Eyeball would have been more effective.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. Yes Bob.

You can't beat troops on the ground, sailors at sea and aircrew aloft!

  10. Jim Duncan,

Without wishing to seem at all political, perhaps HMG should follow your advice!

    All the best,

    Bob

  11. I liked the 'real-time' aspect of it, plus the fact that the bomber speed was set (no difficult tables to work out)

  12. Joppy,

Making three people walk together is a great way to ensure that the speed is kept at a reasonable rate. It is very difficult for them to move at much more than a gentle stroll, let alone jog!

    All the best,

    Bob

  13. I haven't been to COW for a few years, so your video was informative as to how much fatter everyone is!

  14. Wg Cdr Luddite,

You might think that but I could not possibly comment!

    All the best,

    Bob
