Cyberboard: I feel that I am making progress!

Yesterday I made significant progress with learning the basics of how to use the Cyberboard Design program. In fact, I managed to go from this ...

... to this, ...

... and then to this.

I am rather pleased with the progress I have made, and I have used what I learned to write three short guides. These are:
They are all available in PDF format and can be downloaded for personal use.

  1. Bob,

I think the third link is just duplicating the second one.

Very useful so far though, thank you for going to the trouble.

  2. Nigel Drury,

Thanks for letting me know that the link was not working. I have now corrected the mistake ... I hope!

I am please to hear that you have found the guides useful.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Hi Bob, the map is coming along nicely. I have not had a chance to work through your examples yet. I will try to do so soon.

  4. Have you found another way of printing maps produced with CB? It seems a bit odd if screen capture then edit in another program is the only way, even if the program was primarily designed for on screen viewing.

I've started having a go with some designs and your guides have certainly saved me some time.

  5. Sean,

Good luck with your map. I am still on a steep learning curve regarding Cyberboard, but as and when I make any significant progress I will certainly share it.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Nigel Drury,

I have not yet discovered how to print maps without using screen capture ... but Phil Sabin writes in his book that it is possible. However I have yet to find out how it works. When I do, I will certainly let you - and my other regular blog readers - how to do it.

I am pleased to hear that you are finding the guides useful. They are not perfect ... but they do aim to help with the basic procedures most users will need.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. In the Play program as opposed to the Design program you can create games from the boards and counters created earlier. Having loaded a scenario there are options under 'Edit' to copy the board image to clipboard or to save it to a (.bmp) file. I haven't compared how this compares to that produced by screen capture but it would be better for larger maps presumably.

  8. Nigel Drury,

Thanks for telling me about this facility. You are somewhat ahead of me on this part of the Cyberboard package. Phil Sabin says that this can be done, but as yet I have not had time to try it. I hope to spend some time over the weekend learning more about the program.

    All the best,

    Bob
