France 1940

I am off to the wilds of the Wiltshire/Oxfordshire border this morning to take part in a multi-player Megablitz battle set in north eastern France in 1940. I am one of the French team ... and I am fully expecting to find myself spending most of the day fighting a number of rearguard actions against the armoured might of the German Army.

It should be a fun and very busy day ... and I know that the company and food will be excellent.

The following are photographs from one of the earliest Megablitz battles ... which was also set in France in 1940!

  1. The Dancing Cake Tin,

It certainly was a great day of wargaming.

    All the best,

  2. Looks like it was a classic- shame I couldn't make it down- too far a way from me sadly.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  3. Pete,

I know that Tim Gow has run some smaller Megablitz games in the Sheffield area. Is that still too far south for you to get to? If not, contact Tim and I am sure that he will include you in the this of people who are interested in taking part.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. Given that I'm public transport Sheffield can be tricky to get to as it is on a branch line rather than the main lines that serves Liverpool/Manchester/Huddersfield/Leeds/York. The trains stop rather early too.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  5. Pete,

Sorry to hear that getting to Sheffield would be difficult for you. Perhaps you could persuade Tim Gow to run a Megablitz game at the Royal Armouries, Leeds at some time in the future?

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. It would be nice.

Talking of the Royal Armouries, Jim Wallman runs a couple of Mega Games there a year- the next one is El Alamein. I'll be attending that for definite.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  7. Pete,

Unfortunately I am already booked up on the day that that particular Megagame is due to take place ... but if it is up to the usual standard of games that Megagame Makers put on, you will have a very enjoyable day!

    All the best,

    Bob

  8. I should dig out the Mega Blitz rules and adapt my 20mm collection for them
It seems just a matter of some clever basing ;)

    1. Geordie an Exiled FoG,

The great thing is that once it is based for Megablitz, your 20mm collection can still be used with most other sets of rules.

      All the best,

      Bob
