The Artillery Museum has a small but significant collection of medieval armour.
The exhibits include a 16th century knight mounted on an armoured horse and examples of 'Maximillian' armour. The horse armour is thought to have been made between 1552 and 1560 by Kunz Lochner of Nuremberg.
Beautiful looking armor.
ReplyDeleteSean,
ReplyDeleteThe photos don't do the display justice: it was much more impressive when seen close up.
All the best,
Bob
Very impressive - not something I would have expected to see in Russia.
ReplyDeleteConrad Kinch,
ReplyDeleteRussia is full of anomolies and apparent contradictions ... which makes it such a very interesting place to visit.
I understand that there is a huge collection of armour in various museums in St Petersburg and Moscow.
All the best,
Bob
