The new conservatory floor is down!

The floorer laid the latex foundation for the new conservatory floor yesterday, and this morning he returned to lay the new vinyl flooring we chose. He finished at 1.30pm, and the results were even better than we had hoped.

We should be able to begin moving some of the furniture back into the conservatory tomorrow ... once the glue has properly 'cured'.

  1. Looking good. How many coats of paint did you use in the end?

  2. Tim Gow,

The flooring reminds me of the sort of deck we sit on aboard a cruise ship.

As you suggested, three coats of paint did the job. (It looked all right after two, but the third coat made a big difference in improving the overall finish.)

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Looks good. Must feel good to have this upgrade nearly behind you. Looks like a pleasant place for a portable wargame on a sunny spring day.

  4. '...the sort of deck we sit on aboard a cruise ship.' You mean wet? I thought that was why you'd replaced the roof....

  5. Ross Mac,

I am looking forward to finishing this project ... and to fighting the odd wargame or two in the conservatory in the future.

    All the best,

  6. Tim Gow,

We never go on deck when it is wet because Sue can't keep her cigarette alight in the rain!

In actual fact we do go on deck when it is raining ... but always sit in the undercover area where the rain cannot get to you ... so it will be like sitting in our newly refurbished conservatory.

    All the best,

    Bob

    Very nice floors.

But the paint job on the walls looks kinda dodgy - may I suggest another 2 coats.

Oh OK, just kidding, nice, very nice.

    Enjoy.

  8. Arthur,

I know that my camera is good ... but I didn't realise that the resolution was so good that you could see the bits that need another coat!

Drat it! I'll just have to buy some more paint ... and paint some figures instead.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. Michael Peterson,

It looks even better than we had hoped, and this morning I will be walking about on it quite a lot as we begin to move some of our furniture back into the conservatory.

    All the best,

    Bob
