Gibraltar Model Soldier Society exhibition

The Gibraltar Model Soldier Society is currently holding its latest exhibition at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery. The exhibition will be held until Friday 18th March ... which will mean that I will miss it as I will not be returning to Gibraltar for some months. Having seen the images of the show that were featured on GBC ...

... I am sorry that I won't be able to visit the exhibition.

The Gibraltar Model Soldier Society has 80 members drawn from Gibraltar and Spain, and has been holding regular meetings and exhibitions for many years.

    1. Phil King,

It certainly looks like it could be quite an enjoyable exhibition to visit.

You might not be able to see the exhibition yourself, but at least you will have your girlfriend's photographs to look at; I will have to rely upon the media in Gibraltar to provide the limited amount of photographic coverage I can access.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. I missed a recent SCW exhibition at the same venue, she got me a booklet from that one though!

    3. Phil King,

I am even more envious now! I had seen that the SCW exhibition was on, but that it was going to be over before my next visit to Gibraltar.

(My wife and I usually visit Gibraltar once or twice a year during a cruise. We like it, and enjoy visiting some off the places that are not visited by the majority of tourists.)

      All the best,

      Bob

I absolutely agree ... and had you seen Stuart Asquith's collection, you would have been mightily impressed by it!

    1. Ross Mac,

The soldiers on show do seem to be a very mix of both metal and plastic figures.

      All the best,

  4. Ah- the temptation of 1/32nd (54mm)- have built in this scale for Collectors - Sudan Gunboats and Castles and such- a good many of the Sydney Toy Soldier Collectors back in the 1990s all seemed to love Marching Bands. Regards. KEV.

    1. Kev,

Having wargamed with these larger figures, I can see their great attraction. and only wish that I had the room to display my collection of Britains painted figures ... and to use them in wargames!

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Kev,

I have wargamed on a lawn using 54mm-scale figures (e.g. a Battle of Waterloo refight using the FUNNY LITTLE WARS rules) and fought battles with some of the figures from my collection on my 4' x 3' table using my PORTABLE WARGAME RULES. I just wish that I had a bit more room in my wargames room so that I could have the collection on show and could set up my table at its maximum size, which is 6' x 4'.

      All the best,

      Bob
