And I will sail 3,000 miles ...

Sue and I have been away for yet another cruise, and got back just after midday today. This time our travels took us to Belfast, the Outer Hebrides, Iceland, the Orkney Islands, and finally the Shetland Islands.

We visited some amazing places and saw some wonderful and interesting things, and I will be sharing my recollections with my regular blog readers over the next few weeks ... but as COW2016 (this year's annual Conference of Wargamers) is now only a matter of days away, that is going to be my priority this week!

    1. Ray Rousell,

I would certainly recommend visiting Icland, even though it is not a cheap place to go to! As to the football, well we set sail just before the match ... which is probably just as well.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Ah interesting. I actually saw your cruise ship docked in Belfast. (I work around the corner from the dock). Next time give me a heads up and I can get a game organised :)

    1. Duc de Gobin,

Thanks for your kind offer ... but my wife might have raised a few objections, especially as she wanted to visit the 'Titanic Experience'. (One of her relatives was a member of the crew. He did not survive.)

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Legatus Hedlius,

Iceland is pretty unique when it comes to terrain, Driving on a road through a larva field whilst the fog is reducing visibility to less than 50 yards is quite eerie and almost unnerving.

      All the best,

  5. Looking forward to your post. The only one of your ports I've been to is the Outer Hebrides...a great place to go camping and island-hopping. I suspect your trip was more luxurious than mine!

    1. Alastair,

We visited Stornoway, which turned out to be a small but very friendly town. As to the accommodation... well it certainly was a lot more comfortable than camping, and the toilet facilities were much better!

      All the best,

      Bob
