Ships of the Nationalist and Republican Navies during the Spanish Civil War: Huesca (ex Alessandro Poerio)-class Destroyers

Huesca (ex Alessandro Poerio) and Teruel (ex Guglielmo Pepe) were built between 1913 and 1915. Both were transferred to the Nationalist Navy from the Italian Navy in June 1938.

Ships' characteristics:
  • Displacement: 1,028 tons normal; 1,216 tons full load
  • Dimensions:
    • Length: 278’10” (85m)
    • Beam: 26’3” (8m)
    • Draught: 9’3” (2.8m)
  • Speed: 31.5 kts
  • Armament: 6 x 4" (102mm) (6 x 1); 4 x 17.5" (450mm) Torpedo Tubes (2 x 2)
  • Complement: 129
Huesca survived the Civil War, and was stricken and broken-up in 1953.
Teruel survived the Civil War, and was stricken and broken-up in 1947.
