During our recent visit to the Fabergé Museum in the former Shuvalov Palace, St Petersburg, I happened to notice a large number of military images on the walls of the Knight's Room. They were not captioned, but seemed to illustrate various units of the nineteenth and early twentieth century Imperial Russian Armed Forces.
It doesn't seem to matter what the exact subject is really, I get a great deal of pleasure viewing this sort of print, especially so when the subject matter is the mid to late 19thC and early 20thC.

DeleteThey are a great set of pictures (and I could imagine painting figures in some of the uniforms), and I had hoped to buy postcards of them at the museum. Unfortunately one of our party became unwell, and as a result we did not get the opportunity to visit the onsite shop.

Really excellent (and great inspiration for those of use interested in the post-napoleonic continental armies. These images are all so regular. Did you donwnload them from somewhere or did you crop these yourself before posting? (I'm very impressed if it's the later!)

DeleteI am very pleased to read that you have enjoyed looking at this series of images.
I photograohed the paintings myself using a Fuji bridge camera with the flash turned off. I then cropped the images after downloading them onto my computer.
