The Portable Napoleonic Wargame ... is now on sale!

Yesterday's post included the printed proof copy of THE PORTABLE NAPOLEONIC WARGAME. The solution to problem regarding the photographs being too dark has worked ... and I have now released the hardback, paperback, and PDF editions for publication via Lulu.com.

The hardback is on sale for £17.99 here, the paperback is on sale for £7.99 here, and the PDF is on sale for £3.99 here. I hope to publish an eBook edition once Lulu.com can sort out the problems with their software, but in the meantime I understand that the PDF can be downloaded and read on most tablets and on some eBook readers.

The various editions of the book should be available from online bookshops (e.g. Amazon, Barnes & Noble) in due course. As soon as they are available, I'll announce it in a blog entry.

  2. Bob,
I wouldn't be surprised if this became the bestseller of the PW titles.
Good to see a set of Napoleonic rules without the Ogre on the cover!
    Best wishes, Arthur

    1. Arthur1815 (Arthur),

I'd like to think that it will sell reasonably well ... but I won't have any idea how well for a month or two.

I once tried to visit the Ogre's birthplace in Corsica ... but it was shut for lunch! I did visit the monument they have erected to the battles he took part in ... but the guide did not take well to the visiting Brits asking why his last battle was missing!

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Congratulations.

I just looked at you author page on Amazon and - after feeling a little surprised at how prolific an author you've become (I'd never really added up the number of titles before) I clicked the "Follow" button. I'm waiting with interest to see what - if anything - Amazon emails me about.

    1. Mike Hall,

Cheers! I have been busy writing since I retired, and have several other books in the pipeline.

On a recent cruise I was asked what I did for a living, and I replied 'I used to teach, but now that I am retired I do lots of things, including write books.'

Funnily enough, I get quite a few recommendations for books I ought to buy from Amazon ... and they usually contain at least one book that I have written!

      All the best,

      Bob

Thanks for buying a copy of my latest book. I hope that you enjoy using the rules.

As to the dreaded Corsican ... well I do have quite a nice painted figure of him, but he has yet to appear on my tabletop and be photographed, so he could not be on the cover!

      All the best,

      Bob

  11. Looking forward to this, but I'll have to forego Lulu in favout of a retailer that does't charge me half of the cost of the book again in postage :(

    1. Kaptain Kobold,

What does Lulu charge for downloading the PDF? I was under the impression that they didn't charge for this service.

If you are not interested in having the PDF edition, are you thinking of buying the hardback or paperback edition? If so, it will probably become available from Amazon etc., by the end of January.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. Yes, I want the paperback. Given the choice I much prefer a book I can hold. I reserve PDF download for rules I suspect will suck but which might pleasantly surprise me :)

    3. Kaptain Kobold,

I'll see if I can expedite matters and try to ensure that the paperback edition is available for you as soon as possible.

  12. Just bought a copy too. Very much a fan of huge 28mm very non-Portable Napoleonic wargames - but started many years ago with a grid and a few figures and know this can be a lot of fun, and it might still get an outing at times. Plus always good to see rule ideas so thanks! :)

    1. Chasseur,

Thanks for buying a copy of my book.

Ironically, I now have enough figures in my collection to stage huge wargames ... but gridded wargames are still my default choice!

      Bob
