Whilst visiting a branch of THE WORKS (a UK discount book and craft store) I saw that they had on sale a set of wooden castle building blocks.
The set costs £25.00 ... and I was very tempted to buy a set, as I could see all sorts of potential uses for the components. I resisted temptation this time, but I'm not sure if I will be able to do so the next time a visit the shop.
The set would be ideal for anyone who wants to build a traditional toy fort to go with their 54mm-scale LITTLE WARS-style figures ... and I can envisage some of the parts being suitable for use as the basis for buildings in other scales.

Probably worth keeping an eye out in charity shops for similar. DeleteThe parts may be a bit too small for a 54mm-scale fort, but they certainly could provide some of the parts that would be needed.

I'm really thinking of using parts of the Castle Blocks set to act as Built-Up Areas rather than building a complete fort. It's for a 54mm refight of battles of the Franco-Prussian War, and it looks like the Blocks have a sort of Germanic-East France look … maybe

DeleteYou are right; they have a sort of eastern France/western Germany look about them. I think that the two sets of building blocks would be suitable for your requirements.
