  1. Hi Bob,

I am not in the least bit surprised you have a copy of this! Lots of Portable Wargame inspiration for sure!

    All the best,

  2. Many decades ago I remember asking Cameron of Freikorps 15's what his next big period would be. The 'Great Paraguayan War' was his answer. I wish I had this book then.

    1. Jim Duncan,

I was also tempted by the Freikorps 15 figures, but never got around to buying any. It is something that I now regret.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. One of those wars that are the more intriguing for their obscurity. But overall, it seems even more one-sided (so to speak) than the American Civil War. Still, a volume like this might have provided some background for one of my projects that never got off the ground, the Amazonian Civil War, between the United States of Anaconda, and the secessionist Confederated States of Amazonia.

    1. Archduke Piccolo,

If the war had started a few months later, the Paraguayan Navy might have taken delivery of the ironclads they had on order, and this might have evened things up a bit. As it was, the Paraguayans fought hard and by the end of the war their doggedness had made the Triple Alliance’s victory a very costly one.

I think that it would be excellent background reading for you imagi-war.

      All the best,

      Bob

  4. This loops a "must have"
I still mean to get the Osprey on the 1863 French intervention in Mexico!
