Getting back into the saddle

After quite a bit of procrastination on my part, I’ve finally begun work on a book entitled THE PORTABLE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY WARGAME.

Much of the text has been written by other wargamers, and my main tasks will be editing it into a coherent whole and providing some background information about the period. I'm not sure how long this will take, but I hope to get the whole thing finished by the end of August ... by which time I hope that Lulu.com will have finally sorted themselves out!

  1. Hi Bob,
Good to hear that you have another book on the way. The Seven Years War is a very popular topic- will this period be covered in your new book? Cheers. KEV.

I hate to disappoint you, but the book will cover 1600 to 1699, which rather leaves out the Seven Years War but does include the Thirty Years War, the Great Northern War, and the English Civil Wars.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. Hi Bob,
I guess I got the wrong era - However, you have plenty to cover with the Thirty Years War, The Great Northern War and the English Civil Wars- it all will be most interesting to investigate. Cheers. KEV.

I know of several people who are using my PNW rules for fighting Seven Years War battles. Apparently, the changes needed are quite minimal.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Huzzah! Will there be separate rules for TYW, ECW and later 17th century conflicts?

    1. Tradgardmastare,

There will certainly be rules for the Thirty Years War and English Civil War, and possibly for some of the later conflicts that were fought during the century.

      All the best,

      Bob
