I’ve been back home for nearly forty-eight hours, but have yet to have a good night’s sleep due to problems with my high tech, post-op wound dressing.
I won’t go into the unpleasant details, but it began to leak almost as soon as I got home, and after numerous phone calls to different people involved in delivering NHS medical care in ones home, I finally had some running repairs done last night.
Despite this, the leakage got worse overnight, and this morning a local District Nurse completely removed the original wound dressing and replaced it with conventional dressings. These will now be replaced on a daily basis until I am fully healed ... and the concerns I had about the nature of the leaking matter have been answered.
Once I am fully rested, I hope to resume blogging regularly. I have lots to write about, in particularly about books that I hope to add to the stable of PORTABLE WARGAME publications.
I’d like to thank everyone who has made a supportive comment on my blog during my current health problems. Reading you kind words and best wishes helped raise my spirits, especially during the long, dark, and sleepess nights.
All the best Bob. It can't be pleasant having to deal with all of this in the middle of a pandemic and in the run-up to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Bob... clearly sometimes old fashioned is still better!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your return to blog posting.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Alan
Glad to hear you're home and doing better, Bob. I've missed your frequent blogging; but take time to recover before returning. Like many things we've missed or postponed during the pandemic, we will enjoy them -- and your blogging -- all the more when things return to "normal."
ReplyDeleteBob i was starting to get anxious about no news. I know you're not out of the woods yet but it is heartening to read you're heading yhe right way.

Glad to hear you have the wound properly dressed now Bob. All the best for a speed recovery.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
Bob, I'm so glad to hear you're home and well and that the dressing has been sorted. I know I was worried about mine, even with staples underneath to pinch everything together! Hopefully you can get some good sleep and rest now that it's sorted, which is so important.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we're all looking forward to your ideas on other books and your Blogging in general, when you're rested and up to it. Stay safe and keep smiling!
I am happy to hear that you have come through your surgery fairly well, and that the dressing problem has been solved. I have received my copy of the Portable Pike and Shot Wargame and look forward to future instalments both of the series and of your blog. Stay safe and I wish you a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you have made it home despite all your troubles. It is good to sleep in your own bed after a spell in hospital. I know that from personal experience.
ReplyDeleteI remember all the messages of goodwill I received after my last big op. They kept my spirits up no end.
I have been at my own GP's surgery today and also a quick visit to the local infirmary and I see my GP again on Monday. I will be happy if it turns out to a 'false alarm' again.
Keep on blogging and stay safe.
Jim
Sounds challenging! Get well soon Bob!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from the saner portions of Texas.
ReplyDeleteHere's to your speedy recovery! I'll be interested to hear what you've got in store, once you're fighting fit again. Rest easy Bob.

ReplyDeleteRest up Bob, you'll be fighting fit in no time.
ReplyDeleteHey Bob, all the best. Prayer for a speedy recovery. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you Mr. Cordery, even if you're not at 100% yet. At least we know you're still in the game. Take it easy and rest easy knowing we're all pulling for you.

ReplyDeleteHi Bob
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are home and have sorted out the dressing problems. I have been checking your blog each day, and was getting concerned that you had not posted. Serious health problems do tend to put other things into perspective, and any problem with the recovery process can be very worrying. Glad to hear that the NHS has been able to respond quite quickly, even in these trying times. Take your time to recover, the blog will be waiting when you are ready to start again.
best regards
Paul
I'm glad to hear they've plugged the leak but sorry to hear it hasn't been a smooth recovery. Hopefully it will now progress well and be up to writing again.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are managing to get through this. Working in medicine I knew what was going to be happening and the recovery you would go through. So while I enjoy your blog immensely, please take time to recover. Don't push yourself. A note here and there is fine, but we really don't mind if you put yourself first. Your health is the most important thing you have.
ReplyDeleteYikes. It sounds as nasty as the descriptions of early inoculation/vaccination I give my history class (which was gratifyingly grossed out, with cries of “no!”, “stop, please!”j. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteI admire the equilibrium that you have on display through what must have been a trying experience, to say the least. Let's hope that the downs are mostly behind you now and that it is upwards from here.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are properly on the mend Bob.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you are on the road to recovery, Bob. Don't worry if things take longer than you think that they should to improve, that's common, and sometimes just knowing that is sometimes helpful. Take is easy.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes,
Chris and Suzanne.
Good to see you are at home and recovering
ReplyDeleteTake Care

I wish you all the best in recovering. Take care!
