A task that has grown ...

It started because I needed to find a new pot of black acrylic paint to finish painting the two half-finished tanks that I had found on my worktable last Saturday. In looking for that single pot of paint, I discovered that I had modelling paint stored in at least five different places in my toy/wargame room ... and rashly though that I really ought to rationalise it all so that it was in once place.

That was a big mistake.

What started as a simple little task has seems to have blossomed into a full-scale reorganisation of the storage of my modelling and painting kit, of which I have far more than I realised! The downside of this is that at present, the table in my toy/wargame room seems to be covered in piles of various assorted storage boxes and trays. The upside of this will be that when it is complete, all my kit should be in a single multi-draw unit from REALLY USFUL BOXES.

I hope to be finished later today ... and then I can finish those two tanks!

  1. Hi there Bob,

And so the ‘tale grew in the telling’ as Tolkien might have said....I recognise this situation all too well following on from what I thought would be ‘minor’ tidy up of the man cave. It is a slippery slope tidying up for sure....

    All the best,

    DC

    1. David Crook,

Very true ... but the effort will be worth it ... I hope!

      All the best,

  2. Hi Bob,
Yes- it is good to have a bit of a sort out of those items often needed. I tackled my Study Cupboard this morning and after sorting it all out I was surprised at the spare shelving made available- now really useful space available. Best Wishes. KEV.

It’s amazing how cathartic having a good sort out can be ... and how it can free up so much room!

      All the best,

      Bob

I can relate... Sticking to the task is the hard part.

I’m taking it slow and steadily so that I don’t get disenchanted and give up before I have finished.

      All the best,

  4. Beware: if you aren't able to arrest the process it could become a runaway and end with you moving house!

  5. When such things happen to me, I always end up thinking "I wish I hadn't started!"
    A victim of good intentions....
The reward at the end is often worth it though!

I’ve went through that stage earlier this morning ... but I think that I am over the hump now that I’ve stopped for lunch. I hope to get the job finished this afternoon.

      All the best,

      Bob

  6. Not long ago I bought some reserve bottles of paint since the current ones are getting low. When trying to find a spot to keep them till needed I found where I had put the previous replacements I had bought. I don't seem to go though paint as quickly as I used to...

    1. Ross Mac,

We all do it ... and it isn’t until we have a bit of a sort out that we rediscover our mislaid (or forgotten) previous purchases.

Durin the tidy up, I have found several dried-up tins and tubes of paint that I’ve had to throw away. Obviously I’m not painting as much these days as I used to.

      All the best,

      Bob
