Four million hits!

Over the weekend I suddenly realised that my blog had achieved over four million hits!

The blog reached a million hits in December 2015 and three million in December 2018 (I seemed to have missed when it achieved two million hits …) and now it has surpassed four million hits.

I started my blog on Thursday 18th September 2008, and since then I have written over 4,750 posts, had more than 36,000 comments, and attracted just under 400 followers.

Not bad for something that I described as being 'self-publicising, self-centred, self-indulgent' back then!

  4. Congratulations, but satisfy my curiosity: what does it mean to be a "follower"?

I've just scrolled down and noticed the "follow" button but what happens if I click on it? (Currently I followed blogs on Feedly)

I’m not sure of the difference between being a follower or following using an application like Feedly

Are you also suggesting that I should not to be quite so self-centred? It’s certainly good advice … and Sue is always encouraging me not to be.

Your blog always has something interesting to read and to think about. You don't get to 4 million 'hits' without something for people to come back to!

Many thanks for your kind words. They are greatly appreciated.

I write about things that interest me, and hope that it will be of interest to others … and as a formula, it seems to work.

      All the best,

    1. JimG,

Cheers! I think that writing is rather like riding a bicycle; the more you do, the better you get at it. I would probably never have written any of my books if I hadn’t got into the habit of writing my blog.

      All the best,

  12. A long time ago my grandfather said the key to running a successful restaurant was consistency. You don't have to be fancy but when a customer comes in a year after their last visit and orders the same dish they had last time it had better be the same as last time. It worked for him 'cuz his restaurant was open for 60 years.
With your regular posts and friendly demeanor, you've achieved the same results with your blog. Congratulations Bob.

    1. Mr.Pavone,

Thanks for your kind words. I always try to do things like reply to comments because it is both polite and respectful to the people who have bothered to give up their time to read my blog and to make a comment.

Your grandfather was right. Consistency is the key to success … and even if you go a bit experimental at times, your regulars will be willing to go on the journey with you because they know they can rely on you not to go too extreme in what you do.

      All the best,

      Bob

  13. “self-publicising, self-centred, self-indulgent”? 4,000,000 hits would suggest not.
Congratulations on reaching a massive milestone Bob.
