I have been working slowly and steadily on my FUNNY LITTLE WARS/PORTABLE WARGAME ARMY KEPI ROUGE and have added three units of 1st Line Reserve Infantry.
The rank-and-file figures are 15mm Miniature Figurines American Civil War figures that I painted way back in the mid 1980s, and the officers are newly painted ones from Essex Miniatures.
A fine and colourful formation, Bob. These sorts of armies have a unique charm of their own

DeleteConsidering the fact that they have lain unused in storage for so long, I’m very pleased to have finally added some officers and based them so that I can use them.
The red kepis really stand out, and turn a rather drab uniform into something with a bit of jauntiness about it.

You mentioned the end of the Great War a couple of days ago - The Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh month. I often wonder who's idea it was to fix this time?Perhaps it was a bitter jest from the German negotiators? Because this corresponds with the beginning of Carneval in Germany!

DeleteI understand that the timing was set by the Allies at 11.00am (Paris Time) which was midday in Germany. I have no idea who came up with that precise time, although I think that the date was set at the request of the Germans, who signed the necessary documents early that morning.
