A more burgundy-coloured flag for the Republic of Burgundy!

In a comment on yesterday's blog post, one of my regular blog readers (Elliesdad/Geoff) suggested that the colour red that I had chosen was a bit too bright, and that a burgundy shade of red would have been more appropriate. I tried out his suggestion ... and the result was a better-looking flag, as can be seen below.

In the end I used the hex code #800020 (RGB decimal code 128, 0, 32) for the shade of burgundy that I thought was most suitable.

  1. BOB,
A most appropriate choice of color for the Burgundy Flag- you'll have a lot of enjoyment with your Imagi-nations Project. Best Wishes. KEV.

The change certainly was an appropriate one, and the flag looks all the better for it.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Nice one Bob.
The amended flag colour looks much more appropriate. It gets a “thumbs up” from me - not that that usually counts for much 😉.
    Cheers,
    Geoff

  4. A fine improvement, methinks, Bob (and Geoff). Excellent choice. Probably its nearest heraldic colour (stain) is 'murrey', but you might prefer 'sanguine'. So: 'On a field sanguine, a saltire argent'. At any rate, burgundy and white go very well together.
    Cheers,

I agree; the newer version of the flag does look better.

My understanding of heraldry is a bit rusty, but I think that your description of the flag sounds right to me.

      All the best,

      Bob

  5. …Sorry, but I already have the copyright on “ a yellow flag with a duck standing on the back of a fez-wearing bear on a field of tutu wearing dolphins”.

    1. Martin S.,

I had no idea that you held such a highly esteemed office, nor that you had already designed such a flag! I am not worthy!

      All the best,

      Bob
