Maudlin Jack Tar has continued to develop his version of the Hare & Hounds mini-campaign board and has come up with some really great ideas that he has shared via his blog Projects and Procrastination.
He has used the conditional formatting function on MS Excel to produced a spreadsheet that will automatically produce terrain maps for both 3 x 3 and 6 x 6 PORTABLE WARGAME tabletops ...
... and his maps include hills, woods, wooded hills, lakes, and built-up areas. In my opinion the results are impressive and very useful and I can see this being adopted by many other wargamers.
Furthermore, he has begun to use a Hare & Hounds mini-campaign board to fight an Ancient campaign ...
... and he has already fought the first battle of the campaign. For further details, please visit Maudlin Jack Tar's blog.

I'm glad that you're enjoying my efforts with your Hare & Hounds system Bob - I'll hopefully get some more reported soon. There's already one change made to the operation of the campaign which should be shared in the next post.
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteThanks to you, I’ve spent hours playing around with conditional formatting … and I am extremely grateful! It really does take a lot of the effort out of drawing the gridded maps. I am looking forward to your next blog post to see what new developments you’ve come up with.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob, I am as they say normally simply a "lurker" who avid awaits new content on your blog. Regarding this subject your efforts with the Hare & Hounds system reminds me of the "Battlefinder" system which was on the Perfect Captain website. I think it would pay dividends looking at it. It is available on the Groups.IO group Perfect Captain with all the files downloadable from there. It is not an exact fit for what you are seeking to achieve but may give you some more ideas. Regards Bill
DeleteBill Ray (Bill),
DeletePleased to have you lurking!
Thanks for the suggestion that I look at ‘Battlefinder’. I will try to visit the Perfect Captain website over the next few days.
All the best,
Bob
