After spending most of Saturday and Sunday sleeping, dozing, trying to watch TV (without falling asleep!) and trying to cope with the general debilitating effects of the bug we have caught, Monday found Sue and I feeling a little bit better.
This is just as well as we were almost out of fresh food (especially milk and bread) and needed to replenish our supplies. We managed a quick trip to the local supermarket in the morning, and in the middle of the afternoon we felt well enough to go the local hospital for me to attend an appointment to have a DEXA bone scan.
By the time we got home we were both feeling exhausted and fell asleep in our armchairs for nearly an hour … and when we woke up, the general debility had returned.
For most of Tuesday Sue and I repeated what we had done over the weekend, but by the evening we were both feeling somewhat better. Perhaps we are now over the worst of the dreaded lurgy … but we aren’t counting our unhatched chicken eggs quite yet! (People have reported feeling better and then getting worse again, and in some cases this pattern has been repeated for several weeks.) Let’s see what today and tomorrow bring before we do …
Fingers crossed for you both Bob! SWMBO has been good one day, bad the next but, famous last words, now appears to be back to near normal. It has taken 2 1/2 weeks to get to this point though, so she is pretty pooped and fed up after being ill for so long.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are starting to feel better, I caught the 'flu on Dec 9th and still have the cough and feel slightly under the weather. It is quite a bad strain.
ReplyDeleteMike Lewis,
DeleteThis bug is bit like a rollercoaster. One minute you feel fine, do something, and then fall asleep exhausted! My temperature is all over the place as well.
Sue and i had our ‘flu jabs, but it has not stopped us getting the lurgy; it just seems to have mitigated the worst of the symptoms.
I hope that you recover from your bout son.
All the best,
Bob
Glad your feeling somewhat better- lets hope things keep on improving for you both.
ReplyDeleteKev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteI think that we are in for a period of feeling better then poorly again for at least on other week to ten days. That seems to be the norm at the present for those who are unlucky enough to catch it.
My day has, however, had one thing that boosted my morale; a parcel from your good self, for which i am mightily grateful! a ll i have to do now is get my layout on the table and give it a run around the track.
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
DeleteThat is really good news that the OO9 Box Van has arrived- you'll enjoy running it on your Layout. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThanks again for sending this to me. It’s a great model and will good on the layout.
All the best,
Bob
Very happy to hear your both feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOld Nick,
DeleteIt’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride of a bug. We feel great … and within an hour we feel grotty again.
Hopefully this will pass sooner rather than later.
All the best,
Bob
Glad to read that you're both starting to recover Bob
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteAt times it’s a bit like taking two steps forward and then one - and sometimes two - steps back. We are hoping that we’ll get over it soon … but it’ll probably be longer than we would have wished.
All the best,
Bob
Glad you're feeling a bit better!
ReplyDeleteRay Rousell,
DeleteWe are our own worst enemies when it comes to being ill. For example, Sue and I felt a bit better this morning and went out to do some shopping … but by the time we got back, we were well and truly knackered.
Hopefully we can rest and recover a bit tomorrow.
All the best,
Bob
I'm glad your feeling better, I hope the trend continues.
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,
DeleteThe trend is up and down at the moment. After a good night’s sleep, we generally feel better … but once we try to do anything that requires any mental and/or physical energy, we seem to get exhausted very quickly.
We hope that this won’t last too long. The average time for this bug to hang around is two to three weeks, so we probably have at least another week of feeling like we do now.
All the best,
Bob
Nice to see you're both feeling better. I was wondering, and pardon if I've asked this before and forgotten, but does Sue have a blog for her hobbies? I do enjoy a good dollhouse..
ReplyDeleteMr. Pavone,
DeleteUnfortunately, the bug seems to be one where it seems to go away … and then comes back with a vengeance! We wake up after a good night’s sleep feeling better, do something normal (like going shopping) … and then need to have a longish sleep to recover.
I’ve tried to persuade Sue to write a blog, but regrettably she isn’t interested.
All the best,
Bob
