Mea culpa!

In my blog entry of yesterday, I attributed the idea of using vinyl chessboards exclusively to arthur1815. In fact, the idea was also put forward at almost exactly the same time by another of my regular blog readers, Bluebear Jeff.

I apologise to Bluebear Jeff for my mistake. My life is a bit confused and confusing at the moment, and all I can say is sorry, but somehow I got these two great suggestions mixed up in my mind and thought that they had come for one person.

All of which probably goes to show that my blog readers are a lot more on the ball than I am ... and can come up with better ideas as well!

  1. You are, of course, forgiven, Bob. . . . (gee, a six-word sentence with three commas . . . and no list involved).

It is not the first time that an idea has occurred to more than one person at the same time.

I'm sure that both arthur1815 and I hope that it works out well for your project.

  2. Bluebear Jeff,

I learned long ago to say sorry when I had made a mistake ... unlike most of my students, who will blame anyone and everyone they can when they make a mistake, but who never, ever admit that they may be even the tiniest bit at fault.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Bob,

Another gridded item is something used by seamstresses (I don't know what it's called). I found one at a yard sale that's 4' x 6', made of thick cardboard, foldable, and gridded in 1" squares. That's a bit small for what you are doing, I realize, but there may be other types out there with a larger grid.

    Best regards,

    Chris

  4. Chris,

I know exactly what you mean, as my wife used to have one.

I have also looked at various types of cutting mats that have grids on them, but although they were very resilient, they were also quite heavy.

    Many thanks for the suggestion.

    All the best,

    Bob
