Latest draft of the Big Board Portable Wargame: Modern rules now available for download

I have finished the latest draft of my BIG BOARD PORTABLE WARGAME: MODERN rules (BBPW:M) and they are now available to download here.

The rules are five pages long. The first three pages cover ground combat and the last two pages contain optional ground and air combat rules. The latter are based on my earlier INTERBELLUM rules, but have been modified to make them compatible with the ground combat BBPW:M rules.

All I need to do now is to play-test the rules thoroughly ... but first I have to make or acquire a BIG BOARD!

Your PDF appears to be not quite right.

When I print it I get a part of page 1 with an additional page pane on the left followed by a few blank pages.

  2. It seems you have to print the document from within the PDF viewer rather than just asking your OS to print.

Sorry if this is a 'panic'.

  3. Jim Duncan,

I did test that the PDF printed correctly before writing the blog entry ... so I am not sure why it will not print the PDF properly for you.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. Jim Duncan,

Our comments (my reply and your second comment) seem to have crossed in the ether!

It should be possible for you to download the PDF to your computer to print it as well as printing it directly from the PDF viewer ... but as you now have a copy, that is not really very useful information.

    All the best,

    Bob

  5. Phil Broeders,

There may well be a few errors and omissions ... but the main text of the rules is pretty well all there now.

    All the best,

  6. Bob, I just noticed that tanks and light tanks have the same guns in the Big Board rules, but tanks outrange light tanks 4:3 in the Original. Is that intended?

Aircraft rules look good. I'll try this out tonight.

  7. Steven Page,

Thanks for spotting that typo! It doesn't matter how many times a I check something myself, I read what I THINK I have written, not what I HAVE written.

I think that the optional Air Rules should work reasonably well as long as players do not saturate the game with too many aircraft.

    Good luck with your play-testing.

    All the best,

    Bob
