Building a model coastal defence gun: the basic components assembled

After a long but eventually fruitful search for my liquid polystyrene glue, I was able to assemble the basic components of my two coastal defence guns.

The next stage will be to add a pivot and base to each gun, after which they can be painted.

  1. That looks great! Are you going to make some kind of fort to put them in?

  2. Bill,

I am going to use the large Hexon II fortification for starters, but I may build something myself in due course.

    All the best,

  3. Very nice Bob, you've certainly captured the look you were wanting.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  4. I hope you paid Armstrong-Whitwoth their licesing fees, even if the historical Rusland wouldn't...:-)

Those look great, even without a coat of paint. I am afreaid if i start building a few of these, i will want to start the Ian Hogg wing of my model collection, with one each of what you have pictured.

  5. Pete,

These are relatively small coastal defence guns, but I think that I have got the 'look' just about right.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Steven Page,

As I live about a mile from the gates of the old Woolwich Arsenal, I think that I would claim that my gun is based on one of their designs, the famous 'Woolwich Infant'!

Building artillery can easily become a compulsion, which is why I have resisted doing this for some long. Perhaps we will end up forming AA ... Artillery Anonymous ('My name is Bob and I build models of artillery pieces'.)

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. Tradgardmastare,

My only fear is that once I get the bug, I will not be able to stop building coastal defence guns!

    All the best,

    Bob
