Soldiers of the Queen (SOTQ): Issue 153

Whilst I was away on my recent cruise, the latest copy of SOTQ (Soldiers of the Queen, the quarterly journal of the Victorian Military Society) was delivered. The Society had been going through something of a hiatus over the past six months due to financial problems, but these now seem to have been resolved and publication of the magazine has resumed.

The articles included in this issue are:
  • 'Celebrated Over Africa For His Yarns': The Tall Tales and Fast Times of 'Maori' Browne by Ian Knight
  • Prejudiced or Perceptive?: Lord Roberts' relationship with the British Cavalry by Andrew Winrow
  • Irish War Pipes by Peter Walton
  • Donors to the VMS Appeal 2013
  • Obituaries: Huw Jones and The 7th Marquis of Anglesey by John Laband and Peter Walton
  • War Games: Current exhibition of 'war toys' by Tom Williamson
  • Book Reviews
  • The Orders, Decorations and Medals of Sir Harry Flashman by Tom Allen
  • About the VMS
This is yet another interesting issue, and I am looking forward to reading it over the next few days.
