A few blog facts and figures

I have kept a series of six-month-long dairy/records of all my blog entries since I started in 2008, and this morning – to satisfy my own curiosity – I totalled up the number of words I have written and the number of A4 pages in my diaries/records. The annual results are shown below:

It is interesting to note that year-on-year since 2009 there has been a steady increase (I don't count 2008 as I only started blogging in September of that year), but that after I retired in 2011 the upwards trend was greater than it had been before. I think this is due to having more time on my hands to both wargame and to travel, the latter giving rise to quite a number of long 'I have been to ...' blog entries.

  1. That's quite a volume of output - the equivalent of a considerable novel, or even two.

  2. Archduke Piccolo,

I must admit that the sheer volume of stuff that had written was surprising ... and just shows what I could achieve if I really worked at it!

    All the best,

  3. What an impressive output - I don't have that much but I see the merit in hard-copy notebooks that you can flick through on quiet Sunday afternoons and relive past glories! I enjoy reading these note-form, stream-of-consciousness scribbles; it's like seeing how your mind worked years back. Very interesting stuff.

  4. Colonel Scipio,

I had written a lot more than I thought!

The 'hard copy' of my blog entries are actually saved as PDFs as well, and the ability to read through them on my PC, laptop, iPad, and Kindle is very helpful as I can look back and prevent myself making the same mistake twice. (That is the theory, anyway!)

    All the best,

    Bob
