A Scale Modeller's Guide to Aircraft from the Adventures of Tintin

At the same as I bought A SCALE MODELLER'S GUIDE TO AIRCRAFT OF THE GRAN CHACO WAR, I also bought a copy of A SCALE MODELLER'S GUIDE TO AIRCRAFT FROM THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN.

I've always loved the Tintin books, and as Hergé (Georges Remi) was well-known for the accurate depiction of places and vehicles in his books, I had to buy a copy. This is slightly longer than is sister publication (60 pages) but it follows the same basic layout. It is interesting to note that the illustrations used reflect the changes made by Hergé when the drawings were re-done at various times during the publication history of the Tintin stories.

A SCALE MODELLER'S GUIDE TO AIRCRAFT FROM THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN was written and illustrated by Richard Humberstone and published by Blue Rider Publishing in 2015 (ISBN 978 1 32 067258 0)

  4. Cool
    Another Tintin fan here.
Are the aircraft historical or fictional or some combination of each?

    1. Futz-Badger,

There's quite a few Tintin fans amongst the wargaming community.

As far as I can make out, all the aircraft featured are historically accurate or are based on designs that were proposed but never built.

      All the best,

      Bob

  5. I once ran a game based on the Blue Lotus - pics here: http://snv-ttm.blogspot.be/p/the-blue-lotus-crisis-2007.html

But yes, a game based on the Gran Chapo War (The Broken Ear) could be entertaining as well ...

    1. Phil Dutre,

The so-called Tintin Wars as featured in Herge's books are a great source of inspiration for the imagi-nation wargamer ... particularly THE BROKEN EAR and the GRAN CHAPO WAR.

      All the best,

      Bob
