Getting better

Since Monday I have been suffering from a 'flu-like virus that has laid me low. As a result, I have done little more than sleep or sit in my armchair for the last four days. I've tried working on my computer and doing some reading ... but I just couldn't concentrate.

(I did manage to release my latest book for publication on Wednesday evening ... but I almost made a mess of it due to my poor level of concentration.)

I'm finally beginning to feel a lot better, but my ability to concentrate still isn't what it was. Hopefully I'll be completely rid of the virus by Sunday ... and then I can continue preparing for COW2018.

When we woke up this morning my wife appeared to be in the first stages of the symptoms of the virus ... so it looks as if I will be spending quite a bit of time over the next few days looking after her.

  3. Bob,
Not good news to be suffering from a Flu type virus- hoping that you both recover swiftly and get back to normal so that Sue and yourself can enjoy the rest of the Summer. Ever since visiting England in April-May of 2015 I've made a special effort to keep well rugged up during Winter- especially after spending time at London's Saint Thomas Hospital with Pneumonia...We are well and in the grip of Winter now- enjoying my War gaming Project for 1846. All the very best to you both. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson,

Midsummer day was only yesterday ... and we have come down with the sort of virus we'd expect to catch in the winter!

We try to keep healthy, but sometimes it's impossible to avoid catching some viruses.

Sounds as if your project is developing nicely.

      All the best,

      Bob

  5. Get well soon Bob and Mrs Bob. Looking forward to reading your new book, and trying out the rules (though I don't have any ships yet! May have to make some from Lego...)

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

Thanks for your best wishes. We are hoping to be better by the start of next week.

Lego ships would be ideal! I once took part in a pre-dreadnought clash between the Royal Navy and the Imperial Russian Navy where all the ships were built from Lego.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Ross Mac,

Cheers! I've just woken up after the best night's sleep I've had in days, and feel much better than I did. I'm going to take things easy today, and with luck I will be back to normal by Monday.

      All the best,

      Bob

  7. COW beckons. You must get better for that. Congratulations on your new book. I have read the kindle version with relish and have the other two on order (hardback for the shelf and paperback for the games room out in the barn). Now Summer is here I can indulge without having to educate young minds.

    1. Stephen Briddon,

I have just under a fortnight to get myself ready for COW ... and luckily I don't have too much to do beforehand.

I'm very pleased that you liked the new book, and I hope that you enjoy using and developing them to suit your requirements.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Beautyqween0,

Thanks very much for your best wishes for a swift recovery. We are both feeling somewhat better today, and we are planning on going out early to do enough shopping to last us until early next week. We can then just take things easy until we are both recovered.

      All the best,

      Bob

PS. I think that the latest book is selling quite well, although I have yet to see the latest sale figures from Lulu.

    1. Geordie an Exile FoG,

I certainly hope to be 100% better by COW.

6 -1 was good ... but not quite as good as the 5 - 0 whitewash in the ODI!

      All the best,

      Bob
