The two Schwarzenberg ironclad battleships have now been painted and varnished.
As Schwarzenberg is a simulacrum of Imperial Germany, I painted them in one of the colour schemes used by the Imperial German Navy, black hulls, white upperworks, and ochre funnels.
Lovely looking models, Bob. Very evocative….ππΌππΌ
ReplyDeleteMartin S.,
DeleteCheers! I’m rather pleased with the way these models looked once they were painted.
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
ReplyDeleteSplendid work here Bob- very well made and finished Ironclad Battleships - well done indeed. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteCheers! They seem to have turned out even better than I had hoped.
All the best,

Bob,
ReplyDeleteMuch more attractive than those dull grey vessels of a later era!
Best wishes, Arthur

DeleteThe Chinese battleships that provided part of the inspiration for the design of these ships were painted in very dark grey or black when they took part in the Sino-Japanese War, but were painted in a more colourful Victorian colour scheme during peacetime.
All the best,
Bob
Hello there Bob,
ReplyDeleteLovely looking old chap! They really capture the feel of those German designs - all guns and attitude! Looking forward to seeing what is next on the stocks and have you any thoughts about rules at all?
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
DeleteThank you for your kind words. Until the models were painted, I wasn’t sure that I’d got the look right, but once they were, I realised that I had.
I already have begun work on the next ship, which will be an ironclad battleship for the Khakistani Navy. As to the rules … well, that’s something I will have to think about … possibly with your help.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
DeleteYou know it makes sense!
All the best,

David Crook,
DeleteAfter reading your recent battle report, I suspect that I may well be using your rules as a basis for my own!
All the best,
Bob

Glory to Ruritania (Quinn),
DeleteI wasn't quite sure about them until they were painted and varnished ... but once they were, I was very pleased with both the models and the colour scheme I chose for them.
I have one or two other things to get done first, but I hope to get them into action in the near future.
All the best,
Bob
