I have now had the opportunity to check through all the feedback I have received about the previous draft of these rules, and I have made some small amendments and corrected several typographical errors in both the WHEN EMPIRES CLASH! – COLONIAL WARS Rules and the Army Lists. I have also used the opportunity to change all the diagrams over to the newer, clearer style featured in yesterday’s blog entry.
The latest drafts of the WHEN EMPIRES CLASH! – COLONIAL WARS Rules and Army Lists are – therefore – now available for download via the Red Hex Wargames website.
The password to open both files remains the same as before: wec-cw

No lists for the North-West Rebellion in Canada? The main reason I mention this is beacuse RAFM does a range of 25mm for this conflict.
ReplyDeleteBob,
ReplyDeleteDid a quick scan of the WEC-CW rules. They look good. I'll do a more thorough review later on.
I think I'll change my rules so the diagrams are jpgs, instead of just plopping the Visio diagram straight into the Word document. Then I can have the text flow next the diagrams like you did. It will reclaim a lot of "lost" space and lower the page count.
On behalf of everyone, thanks for all the work on WEC-CW.
Jim
Pat G,
ReplyDeleteIf I had sufficient sources of data about the Rebellion that I could rely on, I would added it to the list.
I will look into it, as it is a very interesting campaign ... but don't hold your breath!
All the best,
Bob
Jim,
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the very helpful feedback ... and the very nice comment you made. It is much appreciated.
The change to jpegs and bitmaps for images does reduce the file size of the end document quite dramatically. It does mean a little extra work, but the benefits are more than worth it.
I hope to read the latest draft of your Dark Ages rules later this week (work has been a bit hectic again today!).
All the best,
Bob
Look forward to trying these, I just spent the last week making a 2 x 4 foot, 2 inch gridded textured board! Ordered some Baccus 6mm Sudan colonials and am wondering how I can use the 2 inch grid for ancients... Keep it up, I love your blog!
ReplyDeletePatrick,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your very kind comments!
Good luck with your first game with WEC-CW. Please feedback any comments that you have; it all helps the process of further development.
As for Ancients ... well you might be able to prevail upon Jim Wright to send you a copy of his Dark Ages rules; they might be a starting point for you. On the other hand, have a look at Joseph Morschauser's Ancient rules on the Historifigs website; they might be a suitable starting point for what you want.
All the best,
Bob
