Although I finished my Brunswickers and Dutch-Belgian infantry before last weekend, I have had to wait until today to finish off the Dutch-Belgian cavalry and officers.

I have some more Brunswickers and Dutch-Belgian infantry on their way to me as a result of a successful auction 'win' on eBay, and I will probably varnish and base them before moving on to another project. In the meantime – however – I have some more Prussians on my worktable to finish (the result of another auction 'win') along with a further Dutch-Belgian officer.

be careful of those Brunswickers. Mine ran away so many times in our Napoleonic games that they gained the title "Black Racers"!

Hurrah for the jolly old Brunswickers.
ReplyDeleteDelighted to see them.
Will we be seeing them on the portable wargame table before too long?
Bob,
ReplyDeleteThe Brunswickers and Dutch-Belgians are looking good. Will you have personality figures for the Duke and 'Slender Billy', the Prince of Orange?
Regards,
Arthur
Very nice - you're getting quite a collection there!
ReplyDeleteDick Bryant,
ReplyDeleteI owned and painted a unit of Brunswickers many years ago and they were one of the staunchest units I ever painted.
I'm hoping that these troops will copy their forebears rather than yours!
All the best,
Bob
Conrad Kinch,
ReplyDeleteThe Brunswickers have always been favourites of mine, and hopefully they will have the opportunity to appear on my tabletop at some time in the near future.
All the best,
Bob
Arthur1815 (Arthur),
ReplyDeleteNeither personality was included in the range of Del Prado pre-painted figures, but if the opportunity arises I might buy some suitable castings and paint them.
All the best,
Bob
Stryker,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment,
Thanks to Ebay I have been able to extend my original collect without having to spend a huge amount of money.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI have to say that these figures do look really nice. My only flirtation with the black Brunswickers was to prepare a unit of the Avant Garde Jager in 20mm plastic. I used Airfix Confederates and as a unit they fought better than my 95th Rifles and on one glorious occasion saw off an attack by French Cuirassiers and an Old Guard battalion!
I am looking forward to seeing these in action.
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
ReplyDeleteI never had any Avante Garde Jäger Brunswickers, just the good old Black Corps!
The funny thing about the Brunswickers is they seem to perform very well for some wargamers and badly for others. My experience has been good ... and I hope that these will maintain this reputation.
All the best,
Bob
My Brunswickers and Nassauers have been remarkably steady in over forty years of gaming. good luck to your lads!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteSteven Page,
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that my Brunswickers will be a staunch bunch of fighting men ... but only the test of battle will prove whether they are or not!
All the best,
Bob
Brigadier General,
ReplyDeleteThanks very much! There are more to come ... quite a lot more!
All the best,
Bob
