Thanks to a link provided by Phil Dutré, I was able to find a slightly different, coloured version of Tony Bath's original Hyboria map:
When compared to the one I included in yesterday's blog post, it includes some additional information and several minor changes to place names, national boundaries, and physical features.
By clicking on the maps shown above, blog readers can see enlarged (and somewhat clearer) views of them.

I do wonder if the differences are due to Tony's campaign where he gradually absorbed the smaller kingdoms into larger power blocs; several of the smaller states and even Stygia don't appear.

DeleteThat may well be the reason why the map seems to have ‘evolved’ over the years. I’ve now traced a copy of the map that was published alongside Tony Bath’s article about Hyboria in BATTLE magazine, and hope to publish it on my blog in the near future.

DeleteAs well as the map of Hyboria that you mention, Tony Bath's series in Battle for Wargamers magazine (continuing in Military Modelling after Battle's lamentable demise) contained another 16 maps, almost all of which are battle plans, though one shows the end of the process Neil mentions, where the continent is divided between only six or seven power blocks. Of course, you probably already know all of this. I note that you have traced a copy of the main map from the series, but if you need an alternative scan - or copies of the other 16 maps - I have them all on my PC and would happily forward them to you.
In fact, I have a Word document holding the whole series. I think the copyright belongs to the SoA so it's not something that one could make generally available, but I can send you a copy if you are interested. It's a bit disconcerting - at least to me - to see that the final part of the series was published 44 years ago. It really makes me feel ancient,

DeleteThank you very much for your very kind offer, which I would love to accept. I only have a copy of the very first of Tony Bath’s first Hyboria article (at least, that’s all I’ve found so far!).
I’ve never been much of an enthusiast for Ancient wargaming … but Hyboria is something that I can see myself indulging in if only because I can build lots of small armies as Mark Cordone has done. It’s certainly a very attractive potential project.
