Despite having a very long list of things to do today, I did manage to squeeze in a quick visit to SKIRMISH. This is a twice yearly wargames and toy soldier show that is held at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School.
The entrance was buzzing when I arrived just after 10.00am ...
... and most of the wargames were already underway.
I spent most of my time in the main hall, which was where the majority of the traders had set up their stalls.
Despite my somewhat abbreviated visit to SKIRMISH, I did manage to have a quick chat with one or two wargaming friends as well as buying some bits and pieces ... but more of that later!

I'm most envious Bob - my "trips" when accompanied by the "management" never afford time for wandering off piste! Very impressive use of your time! Now that I've uncovered my couple of old spring firing cannon I'm turning my mind to the troops/targets - can't really put up the nicely painted Britains infantry - which way are you heading on this? kind regards Ken
ReplyDeleteKen H,
ReplyDeleteMy wife is very understanding; she likes to go to dolls house shows, and I usually tag along.
One of the things I was looking for at 'Skirmish' was some suitable plastic soldiers to paint for my FUNNY LITTLE WARS project. In the end I got some second-hand Britains American Civil War Deetail figures, and I intend to use them as the basis for my first unit.
All the best,
Bob
Great photo's Bob, I went to this little show last year, as its only just up the A2 from me. For me it's a stock up on new paintbrushes and paints show, maybe pick something up if I'm lucky. Unfortunatly this time around I was tucked up in bed after being on nights all week!!
ReplyDeleteRay Rousell,
ReplyDeleteSorry that you were unable to make it there, but don't forget that it is on again in September.
Perhaps I shall see you there then?
All the best,
Bob
I was at Skirmish, but only for a couple of hours. I took my daughters along (willinginly, honest!) so I didn't take a lot of photo's. I posted what I took on my Blog this morning.
ReplyDeleteI was heavily occupied with my kids (the yougest is just 6) so I wasn't able to chat to as many people as I would have liked. But my little Padawan Learner had a great time and bought more stuff than I did, so I think the trip was a success!
BigLee,
ReplyDeleteThanks for an excellent photo-report about SKIRMISH that you have put on your blog.
It is always a nice and very friendly show, and there are always some good bargains to be found. I notice that your daughter has found that out, which is not bad for a six-year old!
All the best,
Bob
