Adding a naval dimension: taking a step back

Perhaps I bit off more than I could chew ... but after some fairly concentrated effort on my part, adding a naval dimension to my BIG BOARD PORTABLE WARGAME rules has now been completed.

The problem is that I am not quite happy with the result. All the game mechanisms work ... but I am not totally happy with the way they mesh together. I have therefore decided to take a step back from doing further work on this project for a few days. Previous experience shows that when I return to it, my mind will be clear and the problems will have either gone or solutions will present themselves.

    May be a good way to made your mind clarer for this project could be to go back to PW ancients :)

    I am certainly going to do something else for bit ... and may well spend some time revisiting the PORTABLE WARGAME: ANCIENTS rules.

    Let mes ask you a couple of questions about PW rules. Maybe you have already replied some similars ones in old posts, but they occured me last night.
    Imagine an Infantry unit starting two areas away from the enemy. May it fire and them move one square an finally attacking by close combat?
    Or, the same unit in the same situation: first move one area, then fire and finally close combat?.
    Or, the third question, starting the turn in an adjacent square, first of all firing, and then close combat without moving? or firing and then move on area away from de enemy?
    Well, It's all, so far.

    In answer to your questions, the important thing to remember is that Units fire, then move, then fight Close Combats.

    In your first two examples the Unit has the choice of moving forward two hexes and fighting a Close Combat or moving forward one hex and firing at the enemy.

    In your third example the Unit can stay where it is and fight a Close Combat or move one hex away from the enemy and fire at them or move two hexes away from the enemy.

    I hope that this makes the rules a bit clearer ... but if you want to use the rules in a slightly different way, then please feel free to do so.

    It is clearer now for me.
    Just one point, if I understood well, a unit can fire, move and figth a close combat, all three action in the same turn. right?

    My intention was that Units should move first, then fire, then Close Combat ... but you can do it in any order you want to.
