I should be in central London but ...

I should be in central London today at this month's meeting of the Jockey's Field Irregulars ... but my cold has got the better of me and I have stayed at home.

So instead of fighting several battles using my PORTABLE WARGAME rules (something I have been preparing for all week) and several other wargames as well, I am sat in front of my computer, dressed in warm clothes, with the heating on full-blast, and nursing a hot drink. With luck I will feel better tomorrow ... but it will be too late by then.

Let's hope that there is something good on the TV today.

  2. Hi Bob,

Sorry to hear that the cold/man flu has overcome your usually steely resolve. I can't speak for the TV today so would suggest letting your wargaming thoughts wander far and wide and see what ideas you can come up with to be better explored when you are fit and well again.

On a separate issue - I keep thinking about the great Fezian - Rusland war of 1941....;-) (and the versions of the same in 1891 and 1914!).

    All the best,

    DC

  3. Mosstrooper,

It has laid me low today, but I hope that a good night's sleep will bring some improvement by tomorrow.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. David Crook,

In retrospect I think I did the right thing by not going, even though the TV has been awful this afternoon.

I have had one or two wargaming ideas during my enforced idleness today ... and with luck I might be able to act upon one of them this week.

The Fezians and Ruslanders have a long history of mutual hostility, and their wars have have always been worth studying in detail.

    All the best,

    Bob

It was about the best thing on TV so far today. An excellent cast, great acting, and jolly good fun!

  7. Bob, its never too late when it comes to playing a game. Not like you have to be back at work tomorrow!

I hope you're feeling better soon.

  8. Oops! I meant to say even if you have to play solo rather than enjoying the company of others.

  9. Ross Mac,

How true ... and with luck I might even manage a battle today or tomorrow.

    All the best,

    Bob

  10. Ross Mac,

Fighting battles against a 'live' opponent makes an interesting diversion from solo wargaming ... but sometimes the latter is more satisfying.

I try to get the best out of both when I can.

    All the best,

    Bob
