My Colonial Wargame website: some ideas

I recently wrote a blog entry about revitalising my Colonial Wargames website ... and over the past week or so I have been turning the battle reports presently contained therein into blog entries. I did this because I wanted to remove them from the Colonial Wargames website ... but turning them into blog entries has given me an idea.

Currently I transfer all my blog entries over into an MS Word document entitled WARGAMING MISCELLANY (followed by the year), and at the end of each year I save the whole thing in both DOC and PDF formats. I then load the latter onto my iPad and Kindle so that I can always refer to it.

It struck me that a lot of the data on my current Colonial Wargames website would be more useful and accessible to readers if it were in PDF format that can be downloaded and saved rather than just displayed as webpages, and I am thinking about turning my Colonial Wargames website into a place where readers can access and download PDF files rather than just being able to read the information onscreen.

This may sound as if it is a rather retrograde step, but as so much of what is currently on my Colonial Wargames website is data, it does make sense. Furthermore, it will make the 'new' Colonial Wargames website a lot easier to design and set up ... and to get online.

I have yet to make a firm decisions as yet whether or not to take this course of action ... but currently I am tending towards revitalising my Colonial Wargames website in that way rather than leaving it as it is.

  2. I think that is a great idea. That way they can be preserved and easily accessible. I'm looking forward to the revamp of the site.

  3. Bob,

Sounds great. Of course, I would like your stuff even if it were scratched into the dirt using a stick, but still...

    Best regards,

    Chris

  4. Sounds like a really good idea to me!
I have been meaning to pull my colonial German material together like that. This will help to remind me to do so!
