Cordery's Composite Cavalry Corps

Yesterday I paid a visit to a nearby branch of THE WORKS ... and found a whole load of painted metal 54mm-scale Napoleonic Cavalry figures on sale for £2.00 each! Needless to say I bought a few ... enough to be able to form what I am temporarily calling CORDERY'S COMPOSITE CAVALRY CORPS!

For the sum of £28.00 I bought the following figures:

7 x 'Red' Hussars

5 x 'Green' Hussars

2 x 'Blue' Polish Cavalry

With luck I hope to be able to add some further figures to my 'Cavalry Corps' in due course.

Although these cavalrymen are wearing early nineteenth century uniforms, cavalry across the world tended to wear similar dress uniforms right through until the First World War ... and in the case of the Russian Civil War and the Russo-Polish War, some were even wearing nineteenth century uniforms into the early 1920s! As a result I think that I may well be able to field these figures in most FUNNY LITTLE WARS battles set in the period up to 1914.

    1. Conrad Kinch,

I hope to pay a visit to another branch of THE WORKS over the weekend in the hope that I will be able to acquire some additional figures. I am aiming to try to field 'regiments' of 8 figures, with the possibility of expanding to 12 if and when I can.

With luck these cavalry will form the mounted arm of at least one imagi-nation, just in time for the FUNNY LITTLE WARS season.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Stephen Briddon,

Surely there must be some sort of equivalent type of shop in the US? THE WORKS is a discount book/craft/games/toy shop, and they do sell online. I don't know how much it would cost for you to buy them online and ship them to the US, but it might be worth looking into.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. I bought - well let's just say 'some' of these figures a few weeks ago. Rude not to for £2 each!

At £2.00 they are a steal! Worth buying just because they are a bargain!

  6. What a great find! It is a good thing such things don't appear over here or my wallet would be even slimmer and my cupboards even more overstuffed!

    1. Ross Mac,

When you consider that you cannot buy a painted 28mm-scale figure for £2.00, these are a real steal! I told myself that it would be a crime against wargaming NOT to buy these figures, even though I'm not sure where I am going to store them.

      All the best,

      Bob
