After some prevarication, I have decided to go to SALUTE 2018, and have bought my ticket.
One of the reasons I am going is to see the latest Continental Wars Society game, the Battle of Altenhof. This took place on 21st April, 1848, during the First Schleswig War, and if past experience is anything to go by, it will be an excellent game. For more details, see below (click on the images to enlarge them):

Intriguing game. I hope you enjoy Salute and take some pictures for those not able to attend.

Tradgardmastare (Alan),
DeleteI am actually looking forward to going ... something that I have not always said or thought in the past.
Rest assured that I will be taking as many photos as I can whilst I am there.
All the best,
Bob
Bob, I confess to having done a mental double take on your opening line which seemed to me that you were being evasive or deceitful about going but a bit of searching informed me that in the UK the word prevaricate has recently acquired an additional meaning. It is then, still a living language!
ReplyDeleteI wish you joy of the day when it comes.
Ross Mac,
DeleteI did consider using the word procrastinate, but that did not quite convey the meaning I wanted to get over. I have been evading making a decision about whether or not to go to SALUTE for some time, but in the end I have decided to go.
I only hope that getting to the venue by public transport is not as tiresome as it was the last time I went. (Runners taking part in the London Marathon were collecting their numbers etc., from a different hall in the same venue, and the Docklands Light Raikway - which is the best way to get to ExCel - was running at rush-hour capacity.)
All the best,
Bob
Hope to bump into you and say hi. I'll keep an eye out for this game.
ReplyDeleteLee Hadley,
DeleteI hope to see you and all the other bloggers at SALUTE.
The CWS games are always a little bit different, and well worth having a look at.
All the best,
Bob
Bob - look forward to seeing you there and as many others who follow your blog that can make it - I can promise that we will make you feel welcome!
ReplyDeleteIan Dury,
DeleteI am looking forward to going to SALUTE, even though I don't have a shopping list to bring with me. A visit to the CWS game is top of my list of things to see, and I am hoping that we have a chance to have a chat.
All the best,
Bob
I was in 2 minds about going this year but I've decided to go along after all. I don't know if the usual bloggers gathering is happening but I might see you there.
ReplyDeleteAlastair,
DeleteLike you I could not decide whether or not to go to SALUTE, but what decided me to go was knowing that it would give me the chance to meet people face to face so that we could have a chat. Hopefully the unofficial meeting of bloggers will take place as has happened in the past.
All the best,
Bob
