I’ve just been given a provisional date and time for my admission to hospital for the operation on my colon ... 7.30am on 2nd December.
I am having a pre-operation assessment with the nursing staff and anaesthetist on Thursday afternoon, and then must have a pre-operation COVID-19 test on 29th November. Assuming that I have not been infected with the COVID-19 virus, I will be in quarantine from then until my admission to hospital.
It must be good to have a date, even if it is subject to the test.
ReplyDeleteNundanket,
DeleteThe sooner I can put all this behind me, the better! Now I have a date, I'm impatient to have the operation so that I can begin to get well again.
All the best,
Bob
Glad the operation date has come quickly for you Bob, get it over and done with so you can begin to recover. Very best wishes.
ReplyDelete‘Lee,
DeleteThanks for your best wishes.
I just want to get it over and done with, and I’m hoping that the operation isn’t going to be delayed.
All the best,
Bob
Great that you've got a date Bob, as it allows you to start planning for the day. I found all of the pre-op staff were wonderful, ditto those on the day. Fingers crossed it all goes ahead and if so, you should be home in time for Xmas, which will be great.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and keeping everything crossed!
Steve J.,
DeleteMy wife has already got a list of things for me to take with me!
From the staff I’ve met on my previous visits, I think that I’m going to be treated well during the pre-op process and the operation itself. They really seem to want to keep me fully informed about what is going to happen, and to put me at my ease.
Many thanks for your best wishes. They are much appreciated.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI can understand you wanting the whole thing over and done with so you can get back onto a more relaxed recovery. Hopefully everything goes well for you Bob. All the Best. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThe sooner it’s done, the happier I’ll be! I’ve never been one to like waiting for something to happen. I’d much rather follow Churchill’s desire for ‘Action this day!) and get it done.
All the best,
Bob
Bob,
ReplyDeleteYour operation is scheduled for the anniversary of the battle of Austerlitz. May it be as successful for you as the battle was for Bonaparte!
Good luck and best wishes,
Arthur
Arthur1815 (Arthur),
DeleteFrom Bonaparte’s point of view, I’d rather it be Austerlitz than Waterloo!
Many thanks for your best wishes.
All the best,
Bob
Best wishes Bob
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteCheers! Thanks very much for your best wishes,
All the best,
Bob
I remember the day of my big op. At the hospital for 7.30, gathered in a waiting room with 7 other guys. Told I was number 2 on the list but saw all 7 go off over the morning. Still there at 1.30 on my own before I found out I was still number 2 but there were 4 separate theatres. Finally got taken for pre-op and then seemed to wait forever before going into theatre. All of a sudden it was midnight and some up feeling groggy.
ReplyDeleteJim Duncan (Jim),
DeleteThanks very much for yet another of your helpful and informative comments.
I’m hoping that I won’t have to sit around waiting for too long ... but I’m prepared to wait all day if necessary to get the operation over and done with.
All the best,
Bob
Yes, Hurry Up and Wait, heard that before.
DeleteJim Duncan (Jim),
DeleteHadn’t we all?
All the best,
Bob

DeleteMany thanks for your support and best wishes.
All the best,

I hope it isn't superfluous for me to add my best wishes to all the others. I suppose some more good thoughts can't hurt though. All the best. Jim
ReplyDeleteJim Walkley (Jim),
DeleteIt certainly isn’t superfluou! Your best wishes are greatly appreciated!
All the best,
Bob
Like everyone else who's commented, I hope everything goes well regarding the operation and wish you a speedy and successful recovery.

Hi Bob, good luck with the upcoming appointment I hope it goes well. And more good news ! I looked at Amazon today and the new book is out in paperback so I've ordered a copy. Hopefully I'll be reading it by Saturday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAgain, good luck and best wishes for the appointment,
Take Care,
Tony Jones.
Tony Jones,
DeleteMany thanks for your best wishes.
I’m interested to read that the paperback of PP&SW is already available as I am still awaiting a notification from Amazon KDP that it’s been checked by them! The last message I had from them was to check a minor fault with the book’s cover.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you have a date, and that you should be home well before Christmas.
Look forward to hearing that it was a complete success and that you are home and recovering
Good luck
Paul
Jan Leniston (Paul),
DeleteThanks for your kind works of support. They are greatly appreciated.
I am hoping that the operation won’t be postponed. As far as I’m concerned, the sooner it takes place, the better!
All the best,
Bob
I'll add to the best wishes on your procedure and you being recouped enough to enjoy the holidays.
ReplyDeleteEd M,
DeleteNow I have a date, I can look forward to having the operation and then moving on.
All the best,
Bob
That's good news, Bob, hope it goes well. Take plenty of (fairly light) reading material ! Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteDavid in Suffolk,
DeleteI have my pre-op and anaesthetic assessments tomorrow, a COVID-19 test on Sunday, and assuming that everything goes without a hitch, the operation should take place next week.
I have a Kindle and notebook to take in with me, but I’m hoping that I won’t be in hospital for very long as I am supposed to be having keyhole surgery. That seems to have a much quicker recovery time than normal surgery.
All the best,
Bob
My keyhole surgery was on a Monday afternoon/evening.
DeleteThe doctor on rounds on Tuesday morning said you can go home while the charge nurse was shaking her head.
I was wired up and plumbed in at the time and things went 'beep beep beep' when I was stood upright with a nurse on both sides.
Same on Wednesday but Thursday was less dramatic.
They let me home on Friday if I remember correctly. I was fairly doped up with painkillers.
Jim Duncan (Jim),
DeleteThat sounds roughly what the nurse I spoke to estimated. In on Wednesday and possibly out on Saturday or Sunday if I make a quick-ish recovery. Otherwise, it will be likely to be Monday morning.
All the best,
Bob
All the best Bob... hope everything goes smoothly
ReplyDeleteAlastair,
DeleteMany thanks for your best wishes. They are much appreciated.

Bob
