Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince de Monaco

Whilst I was in Monaco I managed to buy a couple of postcards that shown the uniform of the Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince de Monaco, which is part of the country's very small armed forces.

Their main function is to guard the Royal Palace and to provided protection for the Prince of Monaco.

Although some of the uniforms are quite modern, others still retain a late nineteenth/early twentieth century look about them, and could easily be a source of inspiration for a small FUNNY LITTLE WARS army.

  1. Hi Bob,

The Maltese Artillery crew manning the saluting guns in the Grand Harbour have a wonderful colonial style uniform - I have some pictures somewhere so I will try and dig them out for you.

    All the best,

    DC

  3. One of my work mates returned from a trip to Monaco last year with an unbelievable picture of a Smart Car being used as a patrol car. This certainly puts any flamboyant uniforms into perspective.

  4. Conrad Kinch,

The personal firearms each of the members of the Compagnie were carrying when I saw them were also very modern, and in no way ceremonial or just for show.

    All the best,

    Bob
