Our trip to Bluewater

As planned, my wife and I went to Bluewater (a large shopping centre near the southern end of the Dartford Crossing) this morning with two of our friends for breakfast ... and then some retail therapy.

The visit started with an interesting meeting. We had just parked our car at the car valeting service, and were queuing up to book the car in when we were joined in the queue by a local celebrity ... Len Goodman of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'Dancing with the Stars' fame. There was a very polite exchange of 'Good mornings' ... and then we went our separate ways.

The four of us went for cooked English breakfast in Café Rouge (and very nice it was too!), and then spent the next hour or so shopping before we went back to the collect the newly washed and waxed car. The only notable purchases I made were in Waterstones were a combined pen, touch, and red laser pointer (I am a sucker for gadgets like that!) and a wooden construction kit for making three small wooden boats.

The model boats appear to have wargaming possibilities, especially as 15mm-scale figures fit quite nicely into them.

  1. I look forward to seeing what you use these splendid looking little boats for...

  2. Tradgardmastare,

I have one or two ideas about how I am going to use the model boats, including a possible amphibious landing or a small gunboat action.

    Time will tell ...

    All the best,

  3. Bob, Will you be repainting the boats? They certainly look very useful. Happy Holidays!

  4. Celtic Curmudgeon (Jerry),

I am thinking of giving the boats a more neutral colour scheme of black hulls and white or cream decks ... but I might leave them as they are.

    All the best,

    Bob
