The next batch of Russian vehicles I decided to renovate were some Russian armoured cars.
These are FAI-N armoured cars, which were a modified version of the earlier FAI vehicle mounted on a longer chassis. The models are diecast ones that I bought some time ago in a branch of THE WORKS. They appear to have been made in Russia and originally sold with a magazine. When they first came on sale in the UK, they were £5.00 each, but later on they were reduced to £2.50.

Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteThese are very nice Armored Cars- interesting to see how you are going to employ them in your Campaign. Strange isn't it how things can be 'reduced' in price...I am amazed at the prices some manufacturers seek for their gaming wears - our dollar isn't trading well - so if it is 1pd GB then it is $2 AUS and so on...things can get pretty expensive once Airmail is also added in. Enjoy your Russian vehicles. CHeers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteTHE WORKS specialises in selling discounted books, games, etc. These were part of a large batch of model military vehicles they sold some time ago. When the stocks were depleted, anything that remained was further discounted ... which is when I bought these armoured cars.
No currency seems to be doing very well at present, and I suspect that trade and the exchange rate will remained depressed until well after the pandemic is over.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
DeleteYes your right about the de-valuation of currency. I'm trying to think of a time when I've bagged a bargain- probably recently with purchasing RAFM Canal Martians - 20off cost me $85 AUS Posted from the USA! Pretty pleased about that. Keep up the good work there in London. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteLuckily, since the pandemic began, I’ve only had to buy paint from Airfix/Hornby/Humbrol ... and it cost no more than I would have paid if I’d bought them in a store.
I have posted a copy of PCW to someone in New Zealand a fortnight ago, but it has yet to arrive. That said, it was cheaper for me to do that than it would have been for them to buy a copy online from Amazon.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
DeleteNew Zealand's Prime Minister- Jesinter Adern- had previously halted all Air Flights into New Zealand closing the Boarders...just recently they are thinking about opening the Air to Australia...so the Royal Mail may go through- perhaps? Regards. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteInterestingly, the Post Office in the UK told me that post was being allowed in as it travelled by air freight rather than passenger-carrying aircraft. Any hold up was probably due to NZ Customs, who were prioritising PPE, medicines, foodstuff etc.
All the best,
Bob
Lovely models at a bargain price!
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteCheers! I found some more on sale on eBay ... for £10.00 each!
I’m glad that I bought mine when I did!
All the best,
Bob
