Very recently my old friend David Crook made me aware that a former trader was selling off diecast models of BA-64 armoured cars. As my collection needs some of these light armoured scout cars, I ordered ten and they arrived by post earlier this week.
I hope to repaint and base these vehicles once I have finished flocking the renovated figures and vehicles in my existing collection. They will then form the reconnaissance elements of my Soviet Red Army formations.
Nice little models Bob. What scale are they?
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteThey are nice. I think that they are 1/72nd-scale and they look alright alongside my 20mm figures … and because they are small, they do not look out of place with my 1/87th-scale vehicles.
All the best,
Bob
LOOKING right is what matters, certainly more important than BEING right in a very mathematical/technical sense. And, in any event, they are your toys and you can do what the heck you want with them. 😉
DeleteTBH - in many of my games I often use 10mm infantry and 6mm tanks & vehicles together. I’m effectively playing a board game, but with “toy” pieces instead of cardboard counters, so whatever size toy I use is really just representational.
Cheers,
Geoff
Elliesdad (Geoff),
DeleteMost of my more recent wargames are basically board wargames played with pieces rather than counters, and mixing different scale vehicles and figures has never worried me. Zvezda certainly took this decision when they created their ART OF TACTIC game.
All the best,
Bob
That's a!ot of recon! It seems as if the Red army is undergoing A massive build up.
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,
DeleteYou can never have too much Recce … or trucks … or tanks etc.!
Flocking the bases of my existing renovated collection has made me realise just how much stuff I have … and I also have loads awaiting renovation. Certainly enough stuff to keep me busy whilst I am undergoing radiotherapy … assuming that I don’t have too many side effects.
All the best,
Bob
Bob -
ReplyDeleteI liked the casual way you said 'I needed some so I ordered ten...' But the dear old BA64 was pretty much ubiquitous, so a fair sized Soviet army ought to have a fair number of these little chappies.
Cheers,
Ion
Archduke Piccolo (Ion),
DeleteWhen a bargain presents itself, who wouldn’t grab it with both hands?
I also have a load of jeeps waiting to be built, so my Russians will end up with plenty of light vehicles.
All the best,
Bob
A classic armoured car, along with the German Sdkfz 222.
ReplyDeleteSteve J.,
DeleteNow if I could get a similar number of Sdkfz 222s …
All the best,
Bob
Mow hat is a nice Reece Squadron
ReplyDeleteGeordie an Exiled FoG,
DeleteI only wish that I had as many German armoured cars.
All the best,
Bob
