A very interesting blog entry appeared on Rex Brynen’s PAXsims blog last week.
It concerned the use of Matrix Games at the US Army War College, and as I was involved in the early developments of Matrix Games twenty years ago, I was particularly interested to see how much the concept has now moved into the mainstream of military wargaming.

Interesting reading, thankee!
ReplyDeletePeter Ball,
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued to see that this style of wargaming - which was denigrated and reviled by some wargamers when it first came out - has now become mainstream.
All the best,
Bob
I've always wanted to play in a Matrix game since reading the 'Save Gordon' one many years ago in Wargames Illustrated (when it was worth the price of entry) but have yet to.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
Pete.,
ReplyDeleteI still have the figures that I used when I put on SAVE GORDON at SALUTE back in the day when the show was still being held in Kensington Town Hall.
All the best,
Bob
Interesting! Especially in the light of more recent developments in the Middle East. It would be fascinating - though probably ultimately frustrating - the play the present dog's breakfast as a matrix game!
ReplyDeleteArchduke Piccolo,
ReplyDeleteI understand that the situation may well have been explored already using this gaming technique.
All the best,
Bob
