Coming to a decision

Some time ago, I mentioned that I was having a serious rethink about my future wargaming. Whilst I have been doing that, I have managed to publish the FOURTH PORTABLE WARGAME COMPENDIUM and paint quite a few HO/15mm-scale buildings ... and it was doing the latter that helped to formulate my ideas. I have therefore come to the following conclusions:

  1. That I will concentrate most of my efforts for the foreseeable future on my 15mm Belle Époque project.
  2. That I will continue to acquire 1/1200th-scale model ships for future naval wargames.
  3. That I will down-size my Napoleonic 25/28mm collection so that it is more manageable ... and thus more likely to be used!
  4. Suspend further work on my 20mm Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War project until such time as my 15mm Belle Époque project is as near complete as it is likely to be ... or until I need a break from it!

I also plan to carry on with my 009/H09 narrow gauge railway modelling and – if possible – to link it to my Belle Époque project.

  1. Lovely loco Bob. Sounds like a good plan to link your games with your trains.
Mike Potter's latest N-Gauge project is very inspirational in terms of layout building.

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

It is a very nice loco … and an excellent runner!

It seemed to make sense to me to create a model railway layout that I could also use for wargaming. Whether it will work or not is a different question!

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. BOB,
It is good to plan ahead for the future- having a definite plan helps to focus on success as you go along. I've only two objectives - to finish my Sci-Fi 25mm Ground Zero Figures and to complete the Boer War 15mm figures by ESSEX...not much involved other than painting up about 90 odd figures....apart from this I intend to continue reading Blogs and completing my own postings. All the best. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson (Kev),

I think that having a plan helps … even if one doesn’t necessarily stick ridgedly to it.

Good luck with your two projects. I will follow your progress with great interest.

      All the best,

      Bob

  5. BOB,
Glad to hear that you will still collect your 1/1200th naval ships- it is a good collection you have so far with the WW2 Japanese- hope to see the American Fleet underway. Best Wishes. KEV.

I have a few bids in on several 1/1200th-scale ships that are on sale on eBay, although one is not for World War 2 vessels.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Ross Mac,

As we both know, no plan survives long in the real world!

      All the best,
